Aruba
Looks like Aruba it will be for our 10th anniversary. My question now is do we stay at Marriott or Raddison? I see the Marriott has Tradewinds level where it included breakfast lunch and private beach area. I can't decide between the 2 maybe if anyone has been to either can point our Pros & cons? I want to book this within the next couple of weeks. Also how much time would you say is good to stay in Aruba? We have never been there is there a lot to do and see? TIA

They just opened a ritz Carlton there. I personally would stay there.
A week is good IMO. The weather is almost always perfect (bit hot and windy). They have great restaurants for dinners to change it up.

Both hotels are beautiful but I prefer the location of the Radisson. The radisson is centrally located to lots of shopping, restaurants that are very easy to walk to. You are able to get to the same shopping from the Marriott its just a much longer walk. Also you can still get the conceirge level at the radisson. I also found the beach at the marriott to be very crowded. There is a ton of stuff to do and believe me, no shortage of people wanting to sell you excursions.

Re: Aruba
We loved the Raddison and the location can't be beat! And we really liked their reservation system for the palapa- much better then getting up at the crack of dawn to secure one.

Re: Aruba
We have a timeshare at the Marriott so I am usually biased towards that, but you can't go wrong with either. I guess if I had to chose I would go with Radisson since I know Marriott well. Everything is within walking distance. I know some said that Marriott is a little further, which is true, but walking around in perfect weather makes no difference to me. Sun is always shining, nice wind keeps you comfy and people are just happy there. I walk around with my 2 boys and they have no problem with walking a drop further.
We checked out the Ritz last month while we were there and even though it was beautiful it is even further than the Marriott and seemed dead. Weird! Anyway, as I said... you can't go wrong with either. Food is delicious in most restaurants.

Re: Aruba
Crashing but I just got back from aruba this thanksgiving we also go almost every year as my parents have 2 timeshares there both in the different marriot timeshares - but I really liked the hotel the marriot has - I went to the casino at the Ritz - and the hotel itself is nice but for the $value I like the Marriot better - it has a better beach/pool area but the radisson is also really nice and centrally located. What I will tell you if you go for your anniversary look into Madame Jeanetter for dinner - its a great little secret! Have a great trip!

ITA. The Radisson is more central while the Marriott is at the end of the strip of hotels. Both are very nice though.

Re: Aruba
I went to Aruba for my husband's 40th last October. We stayed at The Marriott Hotel & Casino (not timeshare).
I loved it and highly recommend it. The beach area was great (you can reserve palapas ahead if time... The day before after 4 pm). We never had a problem getting one, even the day we didn't reserve ahead of time. The pools were also very nice (there is an adult pool and main pool).
Great restaurants on the Marriott property, including Simply Fish, where you can have a very romantic dinner right on the beach, in the sand. We also ate off property a few nights (at Madame Jannette's and The Screaming Eagle). I highly recommend both.
I didn't mind that the Marriott was at the end of the strip. We were only there for 4 nights, and I wasn't looking to walk around or do a lot of shopping. We really wanted to relax and enjoy the resort, which we did. And it was never a problem to get a cab to go out to eat.

I finally booked our trip, we are going to stay at the Marriot I splurged for the Trade Winds level since its our 10th anniversary. I can't wait. Looking for suggestions of things to do and recommendations on places to see while we are there.

Re: Aruba
We absolutely loved Gianni's right across from the Radisson. We also started each night with drinks at the Hard Rock Cafe because they had some pretty good bands. A lot of people really like the Piano bar across the street too.

I love Aruba! I've been trying to convince DH to buy a timeshare there!! LOL
Our favorite restaurant is Madame Janette's - great food!
The Flying Fishbone is really nice, they serve you your dinner on the beach. It's very romantic but the food isn't as good as Madame Janette's.
El Gaucho has phenomenal food!
We did the Kukoo Kunuku Party Bus on our honeymoon and it was so much fun! It took us up to the lighthouse for a champagne toast, then to dinner and then bar hopping at 4 different bars.
