Are you supposed to tip the maintenance guy when he does work on your apt?

Are you supposed to tip the maintenance guy when he does work on your apt?
The maintenance guys are here to install our new dishwasher.
Should I tip them?
If so, how much?
How about if they just come fix something? Are you supposed to tip them then?

Since we tip at Christmas time, we don't tip our maintenance guy during the year for routine maintenance. Do you live in the type of building that does Holiday tipping???

Since we tip at Christmas time, we don't tip our maintenance guy during the year for routine maintenance. Do you live in the type of building that does Holiday tipping???
We do live in a doorman building.
We tipped the doormen and concierge but not the maintenance staff during the holidays.
I think I will give him $10. Should I give him more? $20?
