Are you spontaneous?
I asked a friend what her New Year's resolution for ME would be. And she said for me to be more spontaneous.
I thought about it and yes, I am an obsessive planner. I plan everything. For a lot of reasons, but mostly because I don't want to be dissapointed with putting effort into something and getting little or no results.
Or maybe it's the control aspect of it. 
For instance, before we went to Bermuda on our honeymoon, I had:
Transit schedules
Maps of the island
Reviews of all restaurants
Reservations for 2 dinners
Massages scheduled
Points of interest marked on a map
The way I look at it - we only had 6 days. Better make it count, right? We left half the time for 'whatever' kind of exploring and improvising. So I didn't have a 6 day itinerary or anything.
Which describes you more - a planner or a more spontaneous person? And what are extreme examples of your choice?

I just found it a little funny that she is making plans to be spontaneous.....
I lean more towards the planning side of it, and DW is very much into planning activities.

me too for the most part. time is valuable. I planned a lot of things on our honeymoon for Dh and I as well--- and just like you left half of the time to just do whatever we wanted. I don't call that being a planner, I call that being smart and prepared.

For vacations, I plan all the things that we REALLY want. The rest, I leave to our mood. So my travel plans look a lot like yours.
At home, I like being spontaneous. DH jokes that he gets nervous when he sees a particular gleam in my eye- he knows some oddball suggestion is about to be made.

I wish I were more of a planner. I usually do first, think later!
I think planning is a GOOD quality - but I have to admit that doing things on the spur of the moment has led to some of my best and most exciting adventures!

I am a planner....I am the type of person who has a running to do list, thinks and rethinks all the details.....I would love to be more spontaneous, my DH is very spontaneous so that helps me (a little)

I'm spontaneous in a planned sort of way.
I will go anywhere last minute, but would still like some idea of what I'm doing when I get there. I was off Christmas week but needed a rough outline of what we wanted to do for the week.
Also having children cuts the spontaneity down tremendously.

You know me I am a total planner. JW loves being spontaneous on vacation but spontaneous with a plan. It took a while for us to come to an agreement on travel styles. We work together quite well now.

I am the same way. I like to have my bearings or an idea of what I would like to do so I don't wander aimlessly or waste oodles of time but I don't need a daily itinerary.

It's the opposite with us. If we are going on vacation DH will have a whole itinerary planned. He is also big on surprises so I am the wife that gets told pack a bag, we're going to X. So I guess he's spontaneous AND a planner

DH and I are both spontaneous I guess... we kinda just go with the flow. If something comes up last minute, we're there.
The only thing really that we like to plan in advance are vacations... I like to look forward to them.

I was very spontaneous, until I had DD. Now DH said my planning annoyed him and he wanted me to stop. So I did.
After a month of having no plans for the weekends, he told me how bored he is. I told him that with a toddler, you need to plan. To see friends, who also have children, you need to plan. To go out and leave the baby, you need to get a babysitter and plan.
So he asked me to start planning again.

I don't even like to book vacations- I'd rather someone else do it and hand me the tickets and say GO!

DH and I used to be spontaneous before having a child.
Now, we... er, I... have to plan everything in advance or we waste time and nothing gets done.

Totally the same , its almost obessive. I need to know every single detail about my plans.
I love when me and DH were dating he told me not to worry about the whole house thing. And I turned and said to him " Ok , so you think $50-100K is going to fall out of the sky for a down payment?"

I'm definitely Spontaneous, im very care free in that sense, although i will plan and focus on the important and more serious things, otherwise i will go with the flow.

Depends.
I love being spontaneous. Being married has actually curbed that a lot. I used to just get up and go on a whim – 6 hours of driving, just because I could. I’d go see movies in the middle of the night, last showing, etc.
Now I am a little less ‘free’ but still spontaneous – Now I just make sure I can drag my hubby with me.
STILL I have a nasty habit of planning. Once went to Texas and drove back my car, I planned every part of the trip, tinkle breaks, gas breaks, car breaks, sight seeing breaks, when we’d stop for the hotel to sleep, how much time was need to wake up, dress and make breakfast so I could plan exactly what time we were on the road. My poor hubby!
