Are you NICE when you ask for directions?
I was in the supermarket parking lot when this woman asked how to get to the Palisades Parkway. (I'm in NJ). I told her that I KNEW she had to go head back to the main road and go LEFT, but that I wasn't sure what the next turn was. She kept asking. I told her that I wasn't sure and that I didn't want to send her to the GW Bridge by mistake.
She said "NO, I TOLD YOU, Palisades Parkway NOT GW BRIDGE"
I just said I wasn't sure and then I walked to my car.

I had to ask for directions in Austin, TX and I was very polite due to the fact it was a State Trooper with a big ol' shotgun. He thought my hubby had a great accent so he let us take pictures with the gun and pretending to be arrested.
I still get lost on LI andI scream out the car window at ppl but I always add a "Please" and a "Thank You"!
