Are they kidding?

How long did your insurance company take to get you into their system?

My DH filed the paperwork w/ HR yesterday. As of this morning was told that he's in the system and told me the insurance should be able to pull up our benefits w/ his SSN.

I just got off the phone w/ them. They told me they may not have our information accessible to dr's for UP TO 6 WEEKS!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Are they kidding?

Oh man im sorryChat Icon im not sure how long it takes. i would call the HR person and ask them to see if they can do something for you and have it accessible for the drs. im thinking they do this to make sure you stay at this job for a certain amount of time? i could be totally wrong tho Chat Icon

Re: Are they kidding?

For coverage that begins on day 1 without a waiting period, that sounds about right. You may want to speak with their benefits department and ask what they suggest you do for services you'll need before you receive your ID card.

When you are entered into the system, your coverage will be retroactive to DH's hire date.

Re: Are they kidding?

yep sounds right. Technically you are covered but until they get you into the system fully, all of the functionality is not there.

Re: Are they kidding?

Not suprising, BUT, if you get in touch with the insurance company they should be able to give you some kind of temporary documentation or number that you can submit to your doctor. I had this issue a long time ago - just started a job and had to go to the doctor, and it worked out just fine with the insurance company. You are covered from day 1, so it will be ok!

DH checked his online acct. thru HR and was able to see the confirmation that HR enrolled him, and they told him that the dr's office should be able to look us up when he spoke to his HR rep on the phone- so I called billing at my dr's office and gave her all the info I could. So now I wait... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Are they kidding?

as I worked in insurance I know average time is 8 weeks. You can call and ask for a expedited enrollment but you need a reason. ex... a drs appointment.

WOW! I guess we lucked out w/ our insurance up until now! Chat Icon I had an ID# w/in a week of working when I worked at Merrill Lynch headquarters, and when my DH got insurance thru his freelancers union they got us printable ID cards w/in like 2 days.
I had no idea they could take that long! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Haven't heard back from anyone at the dr yet so we'll see if they got anywhere... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
