Are shampoos for color-treated hair really necessary?
I've been using volumizing shampoo/conditioner for my very fine hair. I don't think they make a shampoo that volumizes as well as protects your color and I honestly don't know what I'd do without shampoo with a boost!
So is a shampoo for color-treated hair really necessary? Thanks!

Personally, I do not think they are necessary but when a shampoo is intended for color treated hair, it's less likely to strip or fade the color.

Re: Are shampoos for color-treated hair really necessary?
The girl that colors my hair always tells me to use a shampoo for color treated hair. I finally listened to her and it makes a big difference. My color stays so much nicer and I find my hair, which is fine like yours, has more volume. I just ran out of shampoo the other day and went back to a regular shampoo I had leftover and my hair is so limp and gross. So, yes, I think it makes a difference!

I thought volumizer anything is not recommended for lightened hair. Since lightening the hair opens the pores. I could be totally wrong, but that's what my hair girl explained to me since I used to use mousse that volumized and I have highlighted hair.
I do know they help keep the color lasting longer though.

Between using Sham/Cond. for color
treated hair AND not washing everyday
my color has lasted longer then expected.
Had my hair colored 8 weeks ago and
still looks good.

Yes! Regular shampoos are harsher and strip the color out of your hair at a much faster rate. If you have fine/limp hair (like I do) color treated shampoo is fine because is it lighter than regular shampoo. You can still use your regular volume conditioner. It's the shampoo that really matters.

Thanks!
Is there a particular brand you recommend? Man I'm gonna miss my shampoo/conditioner...
I actually kinda want the color to fade a bit- it is too dark (more brown than I'd like). Next time I get it done we're gonna make it lighter and add a couple foils so I have some highlighted strips to frame my face.

Bumble an Bumble makes a whole thickening line and they are for volume. It is safe for color treated hair. Most salon brands are safe for color treated hair and all have volumizers in their lines. Hope this helps.

I love the B&B thickening line. I also love their seaweed shampoo/conditioner, which I believe is also fine for color treated hair.
