I was under the impression that these are included under the insurace

it entirely depends....
if you are at a normal sonogram appointment and the nurse/doc/technician shows you the images in 3d or 4d - it SHOULD be covered (i hope). i don't think all machines that OB's use have the capability to go into 3/4d....so if your ob's machine doesn't have it...you'd have to go elsewhere for them.
if you go to an 'outside' vendor for the images/sonogram, it is NOT covered (that i know of).
