Apple support scam
Did anyone else fall for the Apple support hacker scam? I did not pay them but let them remote into my daughters windows computer went to my yahoo email and amazon websites and some other things they instructed me to do.
I was leary the whole time i was on fhe phone but they seemed so real like they were from Apple!
I felt so dumb after. I changed all my passwords and called my bank.

Re: Apple support scam
I get a lot of BS emails from people claiming to be Apple and saying things like thanks for your purchase on Itunes - click here to cancel your order. But it's from shady email addresses and if you hover over the hyperlinks they are shady too. Not to mention I don't have an itunes account. I report them as phising scams and delete
Did someone call you?

It's very possible they installed software on your computer. I'd have it checked out.

Re: Apple support scam
I hate to say this happened to me a few years ago with Microsoft. They call real early in the morning to catch you off guard and seem so legit. They were in my computer and once I figured out this was BS they basically held my computer ransom. They wanted me to pay them for their "services" and when I said I wasn't giving them my cc info, they said they would send me an invoice, which they did and I deleted and never paid. I blocked their emails and calls and reported them. I did have my computer checked and they drop in some program where they were still in there. Even though they are "out", like the PP suggested, I would have your computer checked to be safe.
This whole scam stuff makes me crazy. Between bogus emails and non-stop phone calls, I feel like a prisoner in my own home. I really wish there was something someone could do to get ahead of these evil people or slow them down. It infuriates me to know they will never be stopped or punished.

Re: Apple support scam
I also never ever ever answer the phone unless I recognize the number. Like ever. So that helps.

Apple support scam
Apple will never call you and they will not ask to remote into a Windows computer. You can forward that mail to [email protected] and they will investigate it.
