Anyone work near 3rd ave & 46th?
I just started a new job up here & I am wondering if anyone has some good neighborhood info, like where to get a good mani/pedi, good places to eat, etc.

There are a ton of quick places to grab a bite around there. I think cosi is on 44th or 45th and 3rd. I also think hale & hearty is near there. Devon and blakely and azure are both a few blocks up (between 49th and 51st). On 2nd ave (somewhere around 50th and 53rd), there's blockheads, pita grill (now called union cafe or something like that), and go sushi. On 52nd or 53rd and 3rd, there's au bon pain. Also, in the subway station at 52nd or 53rd, there are a bunch of food places. I like fisher and levy, which is a really good and cheap salad place. The line gets long so I'd go either before 12:30 or after 1:15/1:30. On the bottom floor of 805 third ave (between 49th and 50th), there's pampano (tacos, burritos, etc-the "fast food" area of the restaurant), pump (health food), and some other sandwich place which I don't really like.
For a sitdown meal, I really like mama mexico (49th between 2nd and 3rd). They have really good homemade guacamole. There are also a few pubs in the area.

I am at 3 & 54th and Ink sounds interesting, what cross street ?? and what is inexpensive?

Cosi is on 44th & 3rd....soooooo good! There is also a Burritoville on 45 bet Lex & 3rd. I used to be on 44th & 3rd - now I am on Park & 40th.

Manicure/Pedicure - Venus Nails - right off 3rd on 42nd - past the Gap a few doors up on the right side - its upstairs - VERY CLEAN and they do a great job!
Food:
44th b/w lex and 3rd - Bullys - good diner type food, Chiptotles
45th b/w lex and 3rd - tasti d, good chinese takeout - oriental noodles, good thai take-out -thai nam, sbarro, subway
44th b/w 3rd and 2nd - East Japanese - great japanese food
44th and 3rd - Cosi
3rd in between 44 and 45 or 45 and 46 - texas rotis - very good grilled chicken.
As for delis - 46th and 3rd - pinnacle - love the fat free tuna!
Starbucks on just about every corner...
I can go on and on and on.
Shopping - Everywhere!

Thanks for all the input. So far I have been to Cafe Metro, Cafe Basil, and Pax. I think I like Pax the best so far. All are in 1 block from my building. I will definitely be venturing out a little further next week, since now I have the foot traffic timing down a bit better.

I like cafe metro too! Do they still have the lettuce wraps? I love how they list the calorie and fat content of everything

Where is the calorie content? Do they have a brochure? Their salad dressings are sooooooooooo good and I would be interested on the "damage"!
