Anyone work in the Financial District?
I work in the Financial District right on Water Street and it seems like our building has heavy damage. I can actually see my office from my apartment and there are no lights on down there (lovely right ). We are being told from 2 weeks to 2 months before we can get back to the office and I'm hearing rumors that it's so bad down there that people who live in the area in certain buildings have been told they can break their leases because they are not sure when things will be up and running. Anyone else in the same situation?

My uncle works on Park Pl and I know they had to find temporary office space in midtown, but he isn't sure yet how long they are going to be displaced.

yup. my office is on water street too... we are being told it could be at least 6 weeks. apparently our building, which received a fair amount of damage/flooding is on the same switch or whatever as the building across the street, which had more extensive damage, and coned won't turn our power on until the other building is fixed. i don't really get why that is, but that is what we are being told. we can't even go into the building to get things out of it that we need.

From what I hear we can't get into our buildings either. Right now some people are going to the office of our parent company in Midtown, some are going to Bay Ridge and some to Jersey City. Thankfully I have remote access so I can work from home but obviously not as efficiently as in the office. I can't believe those buildings got damaged so badly. It's crazy.

without power to the building we apparently don't have the ability to have remote access. our IT guy got the server out of the building (or a copy of it or something) so we have access to the data on it, but not remote access. basically law firms around the city are letting groups of us use conference rooms in their offices (we are a legal nonprofit), and staff is rotating at the site where the server is to basically take requests for documents and information that people want off the server. i can't even get my physical case files.
it's really insane!

Re: Anyone work in the Financial District?
I do, but we were open on Friday. We are on Broadway though, so we didn't have flooding. We were without power though & still have no phones or heat.
It really was a ghost down down there though.

It really is crazy. Our servers were down Friday too although we were able to check our emails but not get onto our systems.

our office set up this alternate mail server... it doesn't have any of my old emails but it is better than nothing. it's just really debilitating. plus it's annoying because my official login etc with my office is under my maiden name and this email system shows emails being sent from that address as a weird string that includes my maiden name.

My mom is on water street. They don't know when anyone will be allowed into the building. She's hoping she can work out of a sister office here in Long Island.

I'm on pine and water and they said 2 weeks but after reading these posts I don't see how that's possible. I'm working remotely from home.

i work on wall & south. Same things - water damage, internal switch damage, etc. my boss is saying 2 weeks but i don't think that its realistic at all. (he also was saying we were going to be back at work on wed, so i think he's a bit out of touch).
