Anyone Volunteer?

Does anyone volunteer anywhere that they really love?

I'd love to start some volunteering in Dec/Jan and meet some new people.

I don't even know where to start - but I'm looking for someplace in Nassau... any suggestions??

I highly recommend Island Harvest in Mineola. You can do lots of different things. Some of the things I have done are working in the office/answering phones, picking up food for food drives, clerical work, and helping with mailings. By far, my favorite thing I do with them is being on their Speakers Bureau. I got to present assembliies to elementary school students on hunger.

I used to volunteer a lot for them, don't have as much time now.

You could check out your local Fire Department or Ambulance Corps. Even if you don't want to ride the ambulance or do firefighting, some (or all?) accept members who want to dispatch or be on committees, or help in other ways.

I'm planning on checking out my new FD and also see if there's any kind of community gardening in the Smithtown area.
