anyone use zoya nail polish? weird issue
so my mother in law tried zoya, which i use, and tested a color on her thumb and pinky nails on one hand.
i don't know how long she left it on for (it wasn't long, maybe a few days??), but when she took it off she had nail fungus on both those fingers only! this happened in january and she's still treating it. been to doctors etc had rx meds and both nails fell off in the interim.
i have never had an issue with zoya, just wondering if anyone had this happen or knows of something similar. she's so mad because she loves to do her nails and hasn't been able to in months.

I use it and have never had that issue. So strange. I did a quick google search on it and didn't really find anything but an Amazon review that said a woman got toe fungus from using it.
I don't know if it makes a diff but I always use a base coat.
So sorry to your MIL. That sounds awful.

i didn't even think to google it! I never use a base coat. You mean like a clear coat first?
thanks, it's been a long annoying process for her. i haven't used mine since this happened, i may toss them.

Yep. The base coat is a clear coat. I always use it. I think it's to help the polish stay on.

I've used Zoya a lot, never with a base coat, and never had that issue! Awful!
I had that once when I was much younger and had fake nails. It was awful. I lost my nail, too. Good news- it came back super strong lol! It NEVER breaks now.

I've used Zoya a lot, never with a base coat, and never had that issue! Awful!
I had that once when I was much younger and had fake nails. It was awful. I lost my nail, too. Good news- it came back super strong lol! It NEVER breaks now.
oh well that means at least a silver lining hopefully!!

gonna try this with other polishes, thanks!
Yep. The base coat is a clear coat. I always use it. I think it's to help the polish stay on.

Where did she sample the nail polish from?
A store? A nail salon?
Could it be someone with a fungus tried it before her and it was transferred? I dont know if that's how a nail fungus works.

she bought the bottle at Ulta.
The nurse practitioner at the dermatology office said the same thing, she was like there needs to be a seal on nail polishes just like any other makeup!
