Anyone use nose spray while pg?

I have had a horrible cold, possibly a sinus infection. I am on an antibiotic but it does nothing for the congestion. I can't breathe at all. Is it safe to use an over the counter nose spray like afrin? The saline sprays do nothing for me. I have used a care one spray a few times and I feel bad about it. I have read mixed things about it. I should just call my doctor and ask but I just don't feel like it.

Yes, I was given Flonase for a terrible sinus infection when pregnant by a doctor.

Yes, my OBGYN told me my Veramyst prescription was ok to use for my allergies.

i bought a nose spray and when i asked my dr if i could use it she said not for more than 3 days because it can be addictive. ???
but my sisters dr said it was ok to use. so i think it really depends.

I just went through this. My doctor told me to take Afrin for 3 days. I only ended up using it once because I was flying and I felt so much better.

Re: Anyone use nose spray while pg?

I wouldn't use it unless you ask your doctor first. I suffered like you in my first 3 weeks of being pregnant. I just put Vicks in a bowl of hot water and a towel over my head an took deep breathes. The Afrin makes me nervous, so I didn't take it no matter how terrible I felt.

AND honestly, I felt like I was never going to get better.

Nasonex is fine. Ive been on it for years and throughout both of my pregnancies. BOT my RE and my OB approved its use. You need an RX for it though. It is non addictive as opposed to man over the counter sprays.

This is so frustrating. I have been on Nasonex for years for my allergies and they told me I can't take it so I have stopped. Frustrating!
