Anyone TTC for 5+ years

If yes and you are still trying, where do you find the strength to keep going? Thanks

Re: Anyone TTC for 5+ years

I truly have no idea. It's taking a HUGE toll on my DH; to the point where I feel so helpless; I don't know what to do.

I feel like Im going in circles. How many doctors do I have to go to? Do I go back to any that I used to go to? What other tests should I retake after taking a million so far.

Frustration and Heartbreak can't even describe it at this point. A constant knot is always in my stomach and I just want it to go away.

Re: Anyone TTC for 5+ years

I was 8 1/2 years of trying w 6 miscarriages totaling 8 little ones... I wanted to throw in the towel multiple times. But then I looked at so many others on here and would tell myself how come all these people had success??? If they can do it, so can we... And I would take a step back when necessary. I switched drs 3 times.
I looked to support from others and always found someone had it worse. I would thank God that my losses were all early losses, even though still devastating to me... And wonder where these women got their strength to try again.
And most recently it took taking the bull by the horns and being my own best advocate and trying to figure out what else could be going wrong- which did ultimately lead me back to my dr and it ended up being a total lifestyle change for me... Cutting out wheat and dairy since June of last year. Not fun, but I knew I owed it to myself and to DH l... And thank God so far everything is going well... Though I won't fully believe it until they're actually in my arms... Chat Icon best of luck to you!!! When you are feeling weak, look to others to carry you who understand where you're coming from. I wish you the best!

We tried for five years and I now have a 15 month old dd. I am so glad we never gave up hope. That does not mean your journey will be easy. I truly believe that my long journey made me so grateful when I was finally blessed with a baby. I wish you lots of luck, sometimes it's just takes time to find the right protocol for you.

Re: Anyone TTC for 5+ years

I went off the pill in 2004 when I got married. After a year we were sent to RE by my OB at the time. We finally had our son in 2011 and Im pregnant again on our own. We took breaks, went on vacation and had a lot of great memories and tons of tears before conceiving our baby through IVF, it was #5 for us. I saw 4 specialists, did acupuncture, lit candles and tons of prayers. My DH and I agreed that no matter what we would have a baby and I kept that faith. That journey helped me face my next journey when my DS was born 6 weeks early and in the NICU for 41 days. I learned that IF makes you stronger and no matter what happens you will survive. Keep moving forward, but enjoy life. Don't forget to live each day as hard it as it is dont let it consume you. You will have your baby just keep moving forward and believe that it will happen.
Good Luck!

I'm just glad this thread exists. For us it's been nearly 4 years of so much loss and failure. It gets lonely and hopeless when so many are able to move on while you're still toiling away with that sinking feeling that in the end it will all have been for nothing.

I agree. We are "only" three years into our journey and it definitely takes its toll on us.

Your post made me very emotional because this is exactly how I feel. The hard part is DH is done with it and wants to move on with our lives child free where as I want to keep trying. So we are taking a break for now. Whatever you decide to do, best of luck to you!

First off, congratulations on your pregnancy!! Its great to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. In my case, after ttc for 5 years, after several iuis, 4 ivfs, and not one BFP and no explanation as to why I am not getting pregnant, I was finding it hard to stay optimistic. But your story gives me hope and realize I owe it to myself to explore our options and find a protocol that will work for us. Now, getting my DH on board is going to be a challenge as is he at a point where he is done with trying and wants to move on with our lives. Best of luck with your pregnancy!!

Your DS in your profile pic is so cute!! Thank you for sharing your story and congratulations on your pregnancy. How exiting it must be to get pregnant on your own after your struggles!! Would you mind sharing who your RE was when you had your successful ivf? Thank you

I have never had a BFP but I know it must be worse to have losses than have BFNs. Best of luck to you!
