Anyone other than DH & I never watched American Idol?
I mean I've flipped around and stopped on it a few times and I think I saw the Clay/Reuben final but that's it.
Just curious.

I think we've seen maybe parts of two episodes in all the years it's been on. Haven't been able to sit through an entire episode, though.

But this board loves American Idol. I'll probably get flamed for this - but I wish someone would make an 'official' American Idol thread and pin it - that way I don't need to wade thru 1,700 mistitled american idol threads. That way, there would only be 583 mistitled threads nightly.  If they all had AI or something definitive in the title, then I'd gladly just pass by them.. I understand if you dont like it don't click it... but half the time there is no way of knowing.

I love American Idol - but just wanted to say that, I think it's pretty funny that some of you that don't watch it like to watch the auditions.
I personally hate the auditions part and like when it gets to the real singing!

ITA! - i mean really - how many do we need? And it's not like you can just pass them by - because sometimes the threads are not clearly marked "AI-related" - so you think you're clicking on a news story, when in fact it's another AI thread.
And then you have the folks that are telling people to watch what they post and clearly indicate spoilers because they haven't seen it yet.
That's all nice and good - but there's no way, with the board fan base of AI that this will EVER be realistic.
I know for me, if there's a show I am watching - I avoid any thread related to the show, even if it says "spoiler free"
I also avoid any thread where I do not specifically know the content.

Now, I only watch the reject week... the first week when all the TERRIBLE people audition... good stuff.

I stopped watching at the same time also.
If they were serious about being a singing competition, they would not broadcast a few weeks of contestants not being able to sing. I think they use people to make fun of them. While some contestants obviously don't belong there, I find the judges mean and disrespectul. Laughing at their face.
I think the fiasco of last year with Sanjaya is a pure example of what they created. The judges appeared to be amazed why he was still there. Meanwhile, the reason he was there in the 1st place is because they selected him. Yes, the mass population does not vote until they are the final contestant. Which means, they selected him several times until he made the finale. So in my opinion, they wanted the "drama" and the fun but it turned against them when people voted for him. It digusted a lot of people but let's remember who put him in the finale in the 1st place.
Can you see what I think of the show?
I think it could be a good show if they cut the drama.

Oh, I didn't think it really was going to happen, but I just put it out there.
Hoping someone would pick up on it and think, "Hey, that might not be a bad idea, that way all of our conversation is together and it would be nice to have all posters and ideas in one place, all talking together!" It would be beneficial for both AI lovers, and AI haters.
Ah, I live in  land....

i will sometimes watch a few minutes if i am fliping thru the channels but i never sit thru the whole thing. i get embarrassed for them and i HATE simon and paula.

I have wtched it on my own or with my mom. my dh will not sit through the opening credits. he hates it. i just like the audition part then i stop watching.

The title alone sickens me. "American IDOL", are you kidding me?? We've got brave men and women overseas fighting a WAR, and yet people who are good singers are being idolized!!!!!
