Not personally but I would totally do it if NY DH didn't commute to the city. I love Suffolk and you get a lot more for your $ in most areas compared to Nassau.

Yes and it was the best decision we made. I never thought I would make the move since I grew up in Nassau and that was all I knew. So happy we did it.

My dh commutes to the city and up until I had kids I did too. We're right on the border of Nassau and Suffolk though but the train ride is only 50 minutes and it's express.

I also grew up in Nassau, Woodbury, but now live in Huntington. So on the border both times.

Guess it depends how far out. I wouldn't go farther east than I am now, but bc dh still works in the city. You would get a lot more for your money the farther east you go.

You should move by me!!! Play dates and we could drink wine when the husbands get home.

Re: Anyone move from Nassau to Suffolk?

We did. It was a big adjustment for me because I only lived in nassau a Year and came from brooklyn

We didn't move far out - we are in West islip. But I love it here. It's much less congested. I work from home and we have a business in Wantagh - that's the only real reason we didn't move further out. The SS is a killer in the morning rush hour. For people who work in the city, the babylon train station is 5 minutes away. So it's not bad.

Re: Anyone move from Nassau to Suffolk?

Grew up in East Norwich/Bayville and moved in 2000 when I bought my first house in Huntington. It was a huge psychological shift for me - as I'd only known Nassau…..growing up, Kings Park was the equivalent of Montauk for me travel-wise.

Spent 9 years in Huntington and in Centerport now for almost 6 and rarely frequent Nassau at all (except for some rare trips back to some Oyster Bay/Bayville favorites).

I commute to NYC from Greenlawn and love it. (Much better than commuting from Huntington - which I did for years.)

Yep! I grew up in North Massapequa and I've been in Stony Brook for almost 11 years now.

I would NEVER, EVER go back to Nassau. I LOVE Suffolk!! You get more house and property for your money and I love being closer to everything out east...........the wineries, the farms, etc. I'm really happy out here and on the rare occasion I have to drive into Nassau I twitch, lol, it feels so claustrophobic to me after being out here for so long. Re: Anyone move from Nassau to Suffolk?

Dh and I did. We moved from western nassau to western Suffolk. We did not like it. We moved back to western nassau. Next time we move, it will be mid to eastern nassau at the furthest. It was too far from family. We were in an unfriendly apt complex. Commute to dh's job at the time was too far.

Omg- we are looking at Huntington, lol!

I keep feeling like i will be in no man's land... Sorry if that sounds rediculous but i just dont know that area too well. How do you like it there?

Also, looking at Dix Hills (seems like you can get a lot for your money) and Centerport. We have a small yard here where we live and to upgrade, would cost a fortune but i do love it here.

I have a bunch of appts set this week to take a look:)

No mans land? No way. It's the same as Roslyn but we have more land. Close to highways. Walt Whitman mall. Anything you need.

Huntington village is awesome. Tons of great restaurants paramount. Love love it here.

Huntington is not even far out. Train rides are still completely doable.
