I used to love baking and am trying to get back to it (while running after a toddler).

I want to make the Kit Kat cake for my dad for Father's Day but I'd like to make it from scratch.

Anyone have a recipe for a vanilla-type cake from scratch? How about a recipe for frosting too?

I'd appreciate any tips, it's been 2 years since I baked.
