Anyone live in or near East Meadow?
Hi -- I am looking at houses and fell in love with E. Meadow. Just unsure of how people commute to the city from there?... where is the nearest LIRR station, and can you get a parking permit? Any info would be so helpful.

I live in East Meadow. Depending on what part of E.M you live in the closet train stations are Hicksville and Bellmore.

I live in EM and DH commutes out of Merrick station, no permit required.
It really depends on where the house is in EM to figure out which station is closer for you.

Hicksville you need a permit which you can't get since you live in Town of Hemstead and not Town of Oster Bay so you have to pay for parking...not worth the $5 a day parking...
I live behind Walmart & Stop & Shop and I go to Bellmore station which is great....

It drives me crazy that you don't need a permit to park at Bellmore or Merrick because i live in Bellmore and i have to go to merrick sometimes and there is NEVER parking left! Its so annoying.
But yes, you go to Bellmore or Merrick and take my spots!

you may do best with the westbury train station if you are looking in salisbury.

I think it depends on where in East meadow you end up buying...
I live south of hempstead tpk so Bellmore is the closest to me..someone who lives north of hempstead tpk might find Hicksville easier but like others have said its not the same town and I guess they charge you to park...Theres also the Merrick station which is on the same line as Bellmore...Good Luck with the house!!

I live in Levittown and don't commute, but if I do take the train in, I usually park in Mineola
