anyone lay their own pavers?
just wondering how difficult this project is. we are comtemplating doing this ourselves. all we need to rent is a tamper... can't be too difficult?

Thanks! i watched a video on it on the lowes website, it really looks so easy... they say a two weekend project. i'd like it done in one!

DH did a very small section outside of our screen lanai so that when we open the door to the yard area you step onto an area of pavers instead of the grass...obviously there is a lot of labor and the pavers are heavy. i have a bad back and i'm not strong anyway  so i was no help...if you are doing a large area i think the hardest part would be making sure everything stays level..

It depends. We had pavers put in all along the fromt of our house, the driveway and a section for the backyard. The contractor had to break and cart away all the cement that was there. Then they leveled it -- put metal wiring, added all new cement and then placed the pavers on top of that. So it took a week for all of that to be done and it was a lot of labor! So in my opinion it depends on the extent of your project and determining how capable you are of doing the pre-work.

Currently it's a weed-filled dirt patch. it was a pond that we removed. so, there is electric there. because that's there we figured we'd use it as a patio until we can afford to put a nice shed there.
i saw that we have to dig a 7 inch trench for the size we want it to be. then we have to lay gravel, then sand then pavers. seems simple enough.
we'd have to rent a good tamper thing too. and watch our IGS lines...
we aren't removing anything so it couldn't be half as much work as you had done.
