I have participated in 2 in the last year
1 was at a place on LI- innovative concepts- you basically fill out a form and when they have a focus group that matches your answers they call you- they paid $75 cash
the 2nd was awesome- I was picked b/c of car I have- and got to look at a new concept car that a well known company is thinking about coming out with- that one paid $300!

What is this?
Focus groups are used in marketing. They get a group together (usually the group of people they want to target and ask you questions about a product. Do you like this? Why or why not? Would you use it? Why or why not--for example I did one that included all lawyers and it was a focus group on a legal research engine). They pay you in cash for your time. Anywhere from $150-300 for 1-2 hrs.

I'm signed up w/ Innovative Concepts. I did one a few months back for like $100- it was fun! I get emails from them quite regularly BUT I think you're only allowed to do like 1 every 6 months. I think it's out of Carle Place which is also a hike for me.
