anyone in a levit style house?
the fireplace is closed off on our kitchen side, so we just have a bare wall that i want to decorate somehow. i considered hanging up a decorative art, but my DH said he's not sure how deep the drywall is before it hits the brick of the fireplace.
any suggestions on what i can put up there to decorate the wall??

3M makes these tabs that you can use to hang things on wall with no holes. I have a wall plate up with them and they work great.

If you have drywall, what about using the vinyl wall art quotes. They have them at Kohls. You can arrange the words to any pattern you want, so it could take up more space. We have one in on the kitchen backsplash and it looks painted on. Everyone comments on how great it looks. Best part, totally removable without damage ( at least it is supposed to be).

Mine is closed off in the kitchen and is painted white brick. We bought an "island" - several cabinets with a granite top - and put it against the brick wall, for extra counter space. It's great; it looks like it's always been there. Above it is a really large decorative wall clock. There was already a nail there for it when we moved in so putting it up took no work. The previous owners put nails in several places in the brick - I guess you just need the right kind of drill?

Re: anyone in a levit style house?
there should be at least one stud running vertically behind the drywall in the middle..have you tried using a stud finder to locate it? the FP would be too wide across to not have some kind of stud to attach the drywall to.
i grew up in a levit and my parents closed off the kitchen side of the FP and they had a picture hanging there.
the inside should look similar to the pic attached
pics too big here's the link
