Anyone hosted a cookie swap?

I'd like to host one this year for my co-workers/friends since I'll have the house all decorated for the holidays.

What do you write in the invite?
What do you serve besides the cookies everyone brings?

I haven't, but I found this helpful info:

Cookie Swap

HTH! As for food, I would definitely do savory snacks, depends what time of day you have the party....if it's a meal time something easy and family style, otherwise just fun snacks, maybe some hot and cold dips, cheese, veggies, etc. Chat Icon

Re: Anyone hosted a cookie swap?

I have mannnnnnnnnnny of times!!!!!!!!!!

decorate the heck out of the house-write so and sos 1st annual cooie swap-time and place..bla bla
tell them to make 1 batch of their favorite cookies that yield 6-8dozen along with copies of the recipes.
wrap it pretty.
I served apps and wine and beer--dessert-and then you all walk around with a nice container or gift bag and take one cookie off each platter until gone.
you then wrap then in between wax paper-then tinfoil and freeze the cookie tin.
Its awesome!!!!!!!!!
oh! and def eggnog too!
I wanted to do one this year and did not!
any more ideas feel free to fm me!

Re: Anyone hosted a cookie swap?

I have one every year with for my girlfriends. I usually do a brunch. Everyone brings a dozen cookies for each person attending and then 1 extra dozen to sample that day. We all bring them already wrapped in some kind of decorated container and everyone goes home with 1 dozen of each kind of cookie.

I send out an evite- they have a cookie time invitation that is really cute. If you have any questions feel free to fm me.

I did it a similar way -- once I knew how many people were coming everyone made a dozen for each person plus some extra for "sampling"

I served dips, some hot apps (mini crab cakes, sweet and sour meatballs etc.)

Oh....and hot chocolate with kahlua! Yumm

Re: Anyone hosted a cookie swap?

I decided to host one from 2-4pm

What would you serve that is easy?

So far I can only think of:

coffee
tea
spiced cider
hot chocolate
soda

cookies (obviously)

If you were nibbling on cookies- what else would you want to eat at that time?

Milk. Can't go without milk when I am munching on cookies. I can do 16 ounces.

Re: Anyone hosted a cookie swap?

I've never been to/had one, but was invited to one next week. THe invite is cute and asks for people to bring 7-8 dozen of their favorite cookies and email the recipe to the host before a certain date. The host will have them all printed for each of the guests and each guest will go home with a platter of assorted cookies.
