Anyone hire a Mohel without having a bris?

I want to go this route if I have a boy - DH doesnt want to do anything religious. I dont feel comfortable circumsicing at the hospital, and herad you can hire a Mohel to come to the home and do it there....

How do I go about doing this? Anyone have a good Mohel to share?

We had a Mohel and had an official ceremony in the temple. However, he woould have come just to our house if we wanted to. He actually said that a lot of people do it thay way. It would still be a religious bris ceremony though, no matter where you do it. It would just be a much smaller thing, you probaby wouldn't even have to invite anyone if you don't want to, just the grandparents.

DH doesnt want it to be religious - just the cut - and just me and him - would that be ok?

I don't think a real Mohel would go for "just a cut". It is so much more than that and it symbolizes a lot of things in Judaism.

However, you can bring you son to the hospital later, in a week or so and do it than. I know someone who did it that way.

I can ask? I am one of the two not jewish people out of about 100 employees. I am sure they will have a few that woudl do that? Basically it's a private Bris, I guess, right? No prayers at all though?

We hired a mohel and had a very small bris. It was really lovely, in a sort of surgery performed in the home way!!!

I think the religious part was really special...it connected my son with all the men in my Jewish family past and present.

We were told that the cut that a mohel does is so different than the circumcision that is done in the hospital and that in order for it to be official it must be done by a mohel 8 days after the birth and done with the blessings.
