Anyone here see....

Dr. Hanauer?

She was highly recommended here and I made an appointment to see her for the first time in April.

I'm going to have 1 year TTC and I'm sure that's not considered a long time but I have long cycles, 41 days and I had bloodwork done when I started TTC (because my sister has PCOS and I was worried) and was told that one of my levels are high and its the first thing they look for to determine PCOS but that as long as I was getting a period not to worry. She told me to continue trying until I hit one year and return at that time OR if I don't get my period for 3 months straight. So here I am one year mark is April 1st and no pregnancy yet.

My question is Dr. Hanauer a good doctor when it come to infertility?

Sorry for the long post.

Re: Anyone here see....

Hi,
I do see Dr. Hanauer, she is my obgyn. I also see an RE for PCOS. Dr. Hanauer is great but is not an infertility doctor. To get the attention you need I suggest you see an RE, they can monitor you closely and provide necessary meds if needed.

Good luck!

I'm sorry if this is a retarded question...but what is a RE?Chat Icon

And did Dr. H refer you to the RE?

Well...I have not been officially diagnosed with PCOS....so I am actually up for an annual and also further tests since I have been trying for a year. BTW...my doctor and his RN left their practice for a practice strictly concerning infertility. Thus the reason I am going to a new doctor.

It's definitely not a retarted question. An Re is a Reproductive Endocrinologist which specializes in infertility issues.
She didn't refer me, I went on my own. I didn't want to wait much longer so I started seeing an RE. I knew I have PCOS and that is the main reason I went to one. If you have been trying for a year then it definitely wouldn't hurt for you to see one. I was trying for a couple of months before I started seeing an RE. Good Luck!

Re: Anyone here see....

Your welcome!
My previous obgyn diagnosed me with pcos but wasn't too sure I had it since my levels weren't that elevated. I have all the classic symptoms and Dr. H did test my insulin which was slightly elevated. When I saw my RE she saw the polycystic ovaries on the sonogram, she said they weren't bad.

Thank you....I think I am going to see Dr. H for my annual and any further test she wants to do in April....go on vacation in the beginning of May (already scheduled) so I can come back relaxed and ready for my results. And then possibly end up at Dr. Braverman's office (he's the doctor that was referred to me and left the practice I was going to)
