I'm thinking of a career change to become a math teacher. We'll be living in FL so all i'll have to do is take a certification exam (which I already applied for).
I just want to know what you think of teaching math. Do you find that most kids hate doing math? I've always loved it and basically tutored all my friends in college, but wondering if it's hard to teach to younger kids. TIA.

I love teaching math. It is a subject I always enjoyed as well, and I am very into what I do.
8th grade was tough to teach, but in a good way. I loved my classes, and I had the all of the "worse" classes my first year.
Most kids hate math, but then again most kids had school in general.
You just have to find a way to make it fun and not so "boring."
The florida state test wasn't so bad. I took both the NY and the florida test and I think the Florida one was easier. Just make sure you are up to date with a lot of the more "advanced" math (calc/trig/stats).
There are also some "what's wrong with this problem" questions.

I never took the Florida practice exam. I know NY has one on the website in which you register for the exams.

I am a math teacher! I am certified 7-12
Most ofl my kids cannot stand math and they will tell u straight out (well in least my classes) but I have had them say i dont like math but i like you as a teacher. Like someone else said make it fun! I try to and I know the kids enjoy my class. I love them I really like teaching the older kids I feel like I can relate (well while I am young) but I wouldnt have it any other way I LOVE my job and the kids are fun!

GO to Math A and B it covers mostly all topics
but on interviews at least for NY know your calc and trig. I am not sure for FL
