Anyone have Kids that cry when dropping
Off at daycare/school/ sitter etc?
Ds is 2 and cries anytime I try to separate from him. He is relentless and has fussed up to an hour and a half if he feels like i may Eave. Basically I have stopped any separation classes etc
If you had this problem, how long did it are to stop? What was the situation and how old was dc?
I'm asking because he is due to start daycare in a few months, and this is stressing me out. My older son is not like this at all

Re: Anyone have Kids that cry when dropping
My DD just moved up in daycare and has started this. She is two.
There is one teacher that she will not cry for and that's the one that was with her every morning before she moved up.
It's only been about 3 weeks so I'm hoping that she will get used to it soon. But lately they have said that she hasn't been crying for more than 5-10 min which is good.
She is usually the first one to get dropped off in the morning, so once her friends start coming in she is ok.

Re: Anyone have Kids that cry when dropping
DD sometimes cries when I drop her off at daycare. It depends on her mood that morning and whether or not she's mad at me. Usually she only cries for about 5 minutes and stops...sometimes she whines on purpose and stops the minute I walk out. If her friends are already there, she hardly ever cries.

Re: Anyone have Kids that cry when dropping
My DD is 2. When she was moved to a new class she cried every day when I dropped her off. She cried for 2 months straight. Now she just walks right in and says goodbye with no problem. That being said, she has had occassional episodes that last a day.

Re: Anyone have Kids that cry when dropping
DS used to cry when I dropped him off. He changed from in-home to center at 14 months. I found if I sat him at the table facing away from the door and gave him a snack he would forget I was there and I could get away without tears. The longer I stayed, the harder it was for him. I don't remember when he outgrew the crying, I guess it was gradual. He is 4 and I still give him a snack.
I bet he stops crying within 5 minutes of you leaving. I think its harder on us then them.

Re: Anyone have Kids that cry when dropping
Yes- DD has been doing it since she transitioned to the 1 year to 18 month room and does is now in the 18 month - 2 year old room. She clings to me like grim death when I bring her in and won't be put down, won't go play, doesn't want her feet to touch the floor. I have to hand her to a teacher to hold her- and sometimes even then she will scream and cry- even with teachers she loves. This has been every single drop off for a year now!
However, the teachers tell me that the minute I leave she is fine. In fact when I come to get her at night she doesn't want to come home and cries about leaving!
I really think they do it to play on our sympathies!

Re: Anyone have Kids that cry when dropping
My DS cried at nursery school, pre=k and Kindergarten.....never the first few days, but week 2 on, each year seems to get shorter, although Kindergarten was by far the worst. Instead of crying for a few minutes and getting over it he cried ALL DAY LONG.....we'll see what happens with 1st grade!

DS is the same, just a little older. He's usually done crying before I exit the center. And he runs in there willingly.
