I have read turmeric also helps with inflammation. But with any supplement, you also need to watch your diet and which foods are causing inflammation in your body. Eggs are a trigger for me. If I have a bad day of eating out, my joints get all achey.

I think lavender does too. I had an allergic reaction to an eye brow wax and my friend put some lavender on.

Tumeric is supposed to be amazing. You need the kind with black pepper already in it, since the pepper makes your body absorb it.

I did not know eggs can be inflammatory. I bought ginger today, let it steep in hot water, added lemon and honey.
I will try fishoil and turmeric as well.

I am in so much pain all the time and need to try something different from pain meds

I'm sorry about the chronic pain. I take a turmeric supplement each day. I'm not sure if it makes a huge difference but I know it's good for you regardless.

A topical remedy I also like is tiger balm....it's a like a natural Ben gay and is relieving.

Good luck !

I try to avoid eating nightshades. It seems to help since I can't take conventional anti-inflammatories.
Omega 3 is supposed to helpreduce inflammation. I tried Krill Oil but it gave me bad heartburn.

Yes I have? What are you looking to do?

I have an autoimmune disease. I went gluten free and after two months my antibodies dropped from 100 to 74. Another two months later and they were at 63. Getting them tested again soon. My endo previously said going gluten free wouldn't do anything. Well that means my immune system isn't attacking my body as much.

I also take turmeric but didn't start that until after last blood test. I use some essential oils but they're specific to thyroid which is why I asked what you're looking to do. Dairy and gluten are both extremely inflammatory in ALL of our bodies. However if you don't have an autoimmune disease it isn't as big of a deal.

If you are going to use tumeric you should try cooking with it.
Heating it in oil increases the bioavailability.

I read last night sprinkling it on rice, eggs, tuna, chicken or anything.

Re: anyone have experince using a natural anti inflammatory

DH and I are trying the Whole30 plan. It does not allow dairy, grains, legumes, sugar, soy and alcohol. The principle is that you eliminate these foods from your diet, then after 30 days slowly introduce them back into your diet to see which don't react favorably with your body.
I take it a little bit further and try not to eat any nightshades - eggplant, white potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers. I want to see if this has an effect on my aches and pains of arthritis.

It's tough, real tough, but after two weeks we feel better, not bloated and sleeping better. We went off it yesterday because I had a work function and there was just no way around it.
But back on track today.
DH thinks this is the magic plan for him to lose weight too, but he hasn't figured out that he has to reduce his calorie intake in order to do that.

Anyway, friends of ours introduced us to this plan and they have also had great results. The bloating gone, feeling more energy, sleeping better.

I eat eggs often bc I don't eat dairy, no milk, cottage cheese etc. I do eat regular cheeses from time to time. Once in a while yogurt, a tiny bit 1/2 &1/2 in my coffee when I drink.

I drink Almond milk bc, no soy due to medication and cancer past, although soy seems to be in some many products

I have chronic inflammation, autoimmune disease and thyroid issues too.

I did try fishoil for months and felt no difference.

I do eat bread a few times a week so I am not sure I can go gluten free.

I generally do no eat pasta, potatoes, rice etc.

do you take vitamin d? it is very important for people with autoimmune disease.

also, look into the autoimmune protocol by Sarah Ballyntine. you eliminate eggs, dairy, gluten, grains, nightshades, nuts, sugar, veg oils, seeds, etc. (all inflammatory foods for some people). im on the paleo approach group on facebook and it has been very helpful, and there's some really inspiring stories and results on there. good luck!

What can you eat if you eliminate grains, legumes, nightshades, etc? Mostly meat? I am not allowed to eat any red meats - beef, lamb or pork - after having been treated for cancer as red meats are being linked with cancers. I do not eat soy, sugar, or sunflower seeds either for the same reason. I have been told I need to eat eggs and nuts to get enough protein.

Figuring out meals is a problem. I can't eat farmed fish of any sort due to all of the bad chemicals found in them, and I am so tired of chicken : (

I tried tummeric with no discernible result. Same with fish oil.

its not a permanent diet--it gives your body a chance to heal from all the inflammation, then you re-introduce each food category slowly over time to see if you have a reaction.

you can eat seafood, vegetables, root vegetables, fruit.

I will look into this as well. The problem is I don't eat meat, lamb, veal etc as it is. I find it hard to figure out what to eat most of the time.

I eat very little nightshade vegetables as it is.

Ok I took a look and already I feel exhausted wondering what I can eat, esp after just buying some yogurt :)

You can put it on anything but by heating it in oil then mixing in your food you increase the amount of curcumin your body absorbs. The lipid increases the absorption.

I also don't eat meat (or seafood) so meals can get challenging. I also avoid soy and drink almond milk. Make sure your almond milk and anything else ESP dairy does not contain carrageenan. Some people will say it's fine as it is derived from seaweed but I've found studies showing it causes inflammation. So I buy whole foods brand 365 almond milk. The stop and shop brand also doesn't contain and my parents use that. Those are like the only two brands.

I love love love gluten. I don't care about pasta but adore bread. It sucked so bad the first week but now I am kind of like whatever. I don't crave it. Maybe try gluten free for a month just to see if it makes a difference? For me the main difference was seeing the blood results.

Also I switched from synthroid to armour and it made such a difference. I am sorry you're not feeling well. It's such a ****** feeling.

I am no longer taking synthroid but the generic. My Dr is not a believer in the armour but I don't like the fact it comes from pigs. I use Trader joe's almond milk.

Its bread for me too :) I hardly ever make pasta. I have to try and eat more salads. Every time I think I am eating healthy it seem the "good" foods can also trigger inflammation. I can be pro active for a while but become lazy, when I don't have time to shop or cook.
