Anyone have an endoscopy? Update in original post
I'm going in at 10am tomorrow. I will be put out (light sedation).
Anything to know about??experiences?
*******************************
Ok. had it at 10.
My doc does it right in his office. I dint have to go to the hospital or anything.
I went in at 10 and was out at 11:15.
No eating after midnight. dSomeone has to pick you up. DH came with me.
Painless and fine. I have a little bit of a sore throat and I'm still a little woozy. Can't drive until tomorrow. But it was a PERFECT experience.
Plus, they saw NO damage. He said everything looked textbook and he rarely sees people with no issues, thank god.
But it was fine. The worst thing was the IV and that wasn't bad. The anesthesiologist was great putting the needle in.
FM me if you have questions sunniflies.

Anyone have an endoscopy?
I have. Wasn't bad. Possible sore throat after. Stick to easy things to eat for a little. Soups. Yogurt. Etc.

Anyone have an endoscopy?
I had one ... it was fine. I also had a capsule endoscopy. I had to swallow a camera and wear this crazy thing for like 12hrs. I could only have clear liquids... I'd take a regular endoscopy over that any day!

Re: Anyone have an endoscopy?
I was very nervous about getting an upper endoscopy because I had never been sedated before. It was the best sleep of my life I woke up foggy and jittery and really upset though for some reason. No throat issues after, ate just fine. Good luck!

Anyone have an endoscopy?
Thank you for this post as I have been worried about getting one and have been putting it off.
Did you need to have someone take you home afterwards, or were you able to drive home yourself?

You need to have someone drive you home because of the anesthesia.

Re: Anyone have an endoscopy?
I had one when I was 20. All I remember was being asked about college & then waking up & it was over. It was totally fine & I didn't have a sore throat after. My mom took me.

Anyone have an endoscopy?
Do you think it would be possible to take a bus home?

Alone? I wouldn't. How long is the ride? You wouldn't call a cab?

They won't let you leave without a ride there, but I felt fine enough afterwards to drive. It's the greatest 10 minute nap youll ever have!

They wouldn't let me have the procedure without someone being there to drop me off and pick me up. They had to physically see the person. It's a liability for them so it's not allowed. Pp saying she drove home is a huge liability and a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Anyone have an endoscopy?
I had one done about 5 years ago no issues :) I was just tired after the sedation so I slept for most of the day and ate light (I always get nausea from sedation/ anesthesia) and I was fine the next day!

I have one every few years. It isn't that bad you may have a sore throat after but only for a day. i agree with a pp you need to bring someone to escort you home. I doubt they would let you leave by yourself or maybe take a car service.

Re: Anyone have an endoscopy? Update in original post
Just curious, why would a doctor order an endoscopy? Did you have specific GI complaints that warranted the test? I've never had one done and wonder what the purpose of such a test would be...(?)

I have lost my voice. Plus the ENT said I had acid reflux. After examining me the GI said this would be the best choice for me.
I'm PRETTY sure, now, that its my asthma medicine making me loose my voice. The GI said to follow up with the ENT and my asthma doctor. So loosing my voice and waking up in a pool of acid one day is what brought me to the GI.
Sunny, you HAVE to have someone bring you home. You are VERY woozy after anesthesia and CANT take a bus home.
