Re: Anyone have a Volvo
My sister had the SUV & couldn't wait to get rid of it. They had a lot of mechanical problems with it. It drove really nice & was great otherwise but it was in the shop all the time.
It also didn't help that the service center she had to go to was horrible. One time the car was broken into. Window broken & satellite radio stolen & the dealership did nothing. P.S she's in FL.

the safety is one of the selling points for us.
I have to say, they were the NICEST/no pressure sales departments we have been to, and we have been to just about every dealer/manufacturer looking at cars.

Re: Anyone have a Volvo
I have the s40 and I love it. I have had an accord, trailblazer and a jeep and the volvo is by far the most reliable out of all of the others. It is great on gas, and has the cutest look to it inside than any other car within the same size I have seen.

My Dh is looking at the 40 or 60.

Re: Anyone have a Volvo
We looked at the s60.. it was very small in the backseat if you have to have the drivers seat pushed all the way back (which DH and I do, at 6'3 and 5'11.)
I could not see 2 adults sitting comfortably back there in that case. We are leaning strongly to the new Accord, which is HUGE in comparison but still has a sporty BMW look.

Yeah that is not too much of a issue. It mostly for DH to drive to work. I would only occassionally be use it in emergency/my car in shop.

Re: Anyone have a Volvo
Dh and I now have CRV's but my family has owned several volvos since 1990 - 5 total - My last car was a volvo and it lasted for 15 years. They last forever, are extremely safe cars, and my family has always had 2-3 at a time - with no problems. I would definitely recommend them.

Re: Anyone have a Volvo
I have the XC 90 SUV and my husband has the 60. We both love our cars but the service is really really expensive. I have not walked out of there with a bill lower than 700. Also, I have been having some strange problems that ohter Volvo owners have had as wel, like some days, my car won't go into drive and I will sit literally for 15 minutes trying to get it to move to drive or my key won't come out of the ignition etc.
Also, I wanted to get another key for a spare and they said it was 250-300. to get another one made ! These are just some of the things that make me think I will not be getting another volvo in the future.

Re: Anyone have a Volvo
My parents have the s40 and s60 and they love them. My mom's lease is up and she's going to get another one. I am going to look into the SUV again for my next car. We looked last year at it and we liked it but it was a little more than we wanted to spend, but the salespeople were VERY nice and not pushy at all.

Re: Anyone have a Volvo
I have a Volvo S60 AWD. I'm not used to driving in the snow, so I was really happy to get an AWD in a car. I had a SAAB 93 before this and the S60 is bigger and more luxurious. My DH is not crazy about the acceleration - it is electronic and has a slight delay - but it does make for a much smoother ride.
My car was 2 years old when I bought it and I have had it almost 6 months. It has synthetic oil and only needs a service every 7,500 miles. I only do about 6,000 miles a year. If you buy used you don't have to bring it to a Volvo dealer - I bring it to a mechanic who is really good with imports. I hope a service doesn't cost me $700 with him.
