Re: anyone have a turkey fryer?
I don't, but my uncle does and we used it on a camping trip a year or so ago. The meat taste delicious!!!!!
You have to go to BJs and buy one or two large containers of oil for the fryer, so it covers the entire turkey.

I hear its excellent; although its also very dangerous...don't do it too close to your house

Re: anyone have a turkey fryer?
I know Thanksgiving is over but I just wanted to say that I had my 1st fried turkey last July & it was insanely good!
We used oil (supposed to be the best) and a friend fried it. You def. need to be careful as it splashes & is super hot but the meat was to die for!

Re: anyone have a turkey fryer?
my BIL has one and it was the best turkey I have ever had (I'm not a huge poultry fan)
I heard that the hot oil fries the skins and seals in the juices (also keeps the oil out, so it's really not that fatty)

Re: anyone have a turkey fryer?
We got ours at Home Depot along with 2 of the big things of peanut oil.
We have made 2. They are delicious! Someone just needs to stay outside with it and watch the temp. The hot oil definately sears the skin and seals in the moisture.
They say 3 minuites per pound but honestly after the first 15 lbs or 45 minutes I would do 2 minutes a pound. Our second turkey was larger and a little overdone. Go get one. They are awesome. We are also planning a clam bake for the summer to do steamers, clams, and lobsters in it using water!

Re: anyone have a turkey fryer?
My mom has one. That is the way we cook our turkey every year for Thanksgiving. It tastes so much better IMO (much Juicier!)
