Anyone have a PVC decK?
As you can see from all my deck posts we are getting estimates to have one built
One of the companies is nudging me towards PVC decking saying how much better it is than composite, how it won't stain or fade, etc, etc
Just curious if anyone has used it and what they think...

Re: Anyone have a PVC decK?
I would ask for a brand name and go see samples. I hear PVC and I think of that glossy white plastic which is not my idea of a deck material. I'm guessing there are variations but I would do my research on it. If it was wonderful I think we'd hear more about it unless it's relatively new in the decking world.

Re: Anyone have a PVC decK?
I think they call it vinyl decking or at least that is what one contractor had called it. It's looks just like the composite decking but it's made out of vinyl material instead. But it's from the price we were giving. This is why we are now doing all pavers in the backyard.
But one thing to keep in mind, wether you go with the composite or the vinyl, it will last a life time probably, so it's probably (hopefully) a one time cost. That is how I'm looking at our paver patio, it's worth the money now and we probably will not have to replace it for years. GL!

Here is a link
Seems to be called either PVC or Vinyl decking. Timbertech makes this one that I posted. Hope the pics help. GL!

Re: Anyone have a PVC decK?
I have 2 friends with it
It looks great and has held up well but here is what I can tell you
make sure they pre-drill the holes. it looks terrible when they drill through it without doing this
Also certain ones get VERY hot in the sun to the point where you can't walk across it with bare feet. the friends that I know gets very hot have a brown color with a wood grain finish on it I don't know about our friends who have a flat gray color

Re: Anyone have a PVC decK?
Thanks- I actually found that last night on a search
I was just wondering if anyone had it and thought it was worth the extra expense over composite decking
not that I can even afford it now
