Re: Anyone have a microwave over their range?
we just have a range hood right now, but wanted to put in an over the range microwave. I looked at some at Lowe's and their installation was very expensive! They said it's not just installing it, you also need an electrician to run an outlet with higher voltage up to the microwave because it uses more power than just a range hood.

Re: Anyone have a microwave over their range?
My DH installed our micro/convection oven above the stove himself. I *think* all that was involved was securing it to the wall and plugging it in.
Ours is pretty darn heavy though, and an extra set of hands was necessary.

No need to hire someone. We replaced the one that was existing when we bought our house and it was easy to install. just make sure you have thright measurements and it will fit.

Re: Anyone have a microwave over their range?
It is very heacy to install. If you are replacing one that was already there, you probably don't need to hire someone for installation. However, if you never had one there, you will need a back wall bracket, an appropriate wall outlet, and top supports (usually cabinets), and that may be worth the installation cost.
We replaced one and it was not something I could help DH with, it was way too heavy and cumbersome. He did it with my dad.

DH and my dad did it. The hardest part was that the microwave was heavy.
