Anyone have a hernia after kids?
Did you have to have surgery? I think I may have one. What kind of doctor specializes in hernias?
Trying not to waste a co-pay on my primary doc since he'll send me elsewhere anyway!

I had three after DD. You can get them repaired, but if it is not an emergency they will suggest that you want until you are done having kids.
I had a surgical repair 3 1/2 years ago.
You can go to your primary Doctor and they will send you to a general surgeon.
Even though mine was repaired, one of them still pops out if I move or lift heavy things. It eventually pops back in.

I did but had no idea.
I had to have surgery 5 weeks after DD was born to remove my gallbladder and when I woke up after the surgery, the surgeon told me that he found a hernia in my belly button when he was going in to do the laproscopic procedure so he repaired it during the surgery.
He said it was very common after pregnancy...but I had no idea I had it and had no symptoms.
My surgeon was just a general surgeon.

I did, but I didn't know it until I had my gallbladder out and then he fixed the hernia at the same time.
I went to a general surgeon for my whole thing. I recommend Dr. Vitolo in Smithtown (St. Catherine of Siena Hospital). He is an awesome person and a fantastic surgeon.

Not to thread hijack, but . . .
Can I ask for those who had hernias, did your belly never go flat after giving birth? I keep wondering if I might have a hernia becuase my belly never went anywhere near flat, even though I lost the majority of the weight. I've heard of many people who didn't know they had a hernia so I'm wondering how you'd find out.
Also, after you had the repair was your belly flat (or at least flatter)?

I had 3 C/S and then my gallbladder & hernia removed at the same time. My stomach is huge and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon 
(I am not a thin person to begin with, but this is something I never had to deal with in this realm)

Thanks! My youngest is almost 2.5 and I had my gall bladder out this past May. Just a few weeks ago, I noticed a bulge above my belly button and sometimes it bothers me but for the most part is fine. I guess I will suck it up and go my primary doc for a rec.

I didnt have a hernia, but did have my gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago. I used dr. Khalife at nassau surgical. Was very happy with him..he operates out of winthrop..im pretty sure gallbladder/hernias are pretty standard for all surgeons..but i went with him because he is known for his laproscopic surgeries.

I have one and I noticed it after DD was born. I went to a General Surgeon and he basically said that it was so small and it could wait.
