Re: anyone have a cold early on?
You can take plain Sudafed (at least most docs let you -- just ask first). Also the netti pot helps and just to make sure its not allergies, my doc said Zyrtec is okay.
Stuffy and/or runny nose throughout pregnancy is VERY common.
Feel better!

Re: anyone have a cold early on?
I didn't take anything since I was not sure that I could. It lasted about 2 weeks, I drank tons of liquids and got lots of rest.
Hope you feel better

Re: anyone have a cold early on?
I had a nasty one at 13 weeks. The doctor said to only take tylenol if I needed it and I could use the saline nasal spray, which I found to be not helpful... Sorry you're feeling sick!!!

Re: anyone have a cold early on?
I had a terrible cold, with a low-grade fever (a little over 100), at about 15w. The doctor told me I could take Claritin or Zyrtec, or Benadryl at night to help me sleep, and Tylenol. Saline nose spray if I wanted, but they didn't help me one bit. No cough drops or cough medicine, no Sudafed (doctors have different opinions about this one though).
Breathe-Right strips were kind of helpful, as was sleeping sitting straight up, propped up with a LOT of pillows.
Feel better!

I took claritin and used a saline nasal spray. i had to take it everyday for at least a whole week, but it eventually worked!

Re: anyone have a cold early on?
I'm at 5 weeks too and my 3 yr old has a cold, cough and fever right now. I'm doing my best to take care of her but not have her breathe right on me! At this point in my pregnancy, I wouldn't take anything except tylenol and that I'd take sparingly. I know some Dr's say you can, but personally I wouldn't until further on. I'd stick to decaf tea with lemon and honey and rest.

Re: anyone have a cold early on?
I'm just 6 weeks and for the last week I have been stuffy and sneezing like crazy. I think it might be a combo of a minor cold & allergies. If I remember correctly I had this same thing for a few weeks at the beginning of my last pregnancy.

Re: anyone have a cold early on?
I had a moderate cough around 8 weeks. I just drank a lot of OJ and other fluids. Certain cough drops were on the list of meds I could take, but I never wound up needing them

Re: anyone have a cold early on?
I had the flu at 5 weeks. It was awful! I couldn't take anything for it. Humidifier running at night, lots of bayleaf tea, and rest helped.
feel better soon!
