MAg made me feel liek I had the worst case of the Flu ever. I threw up, drooled, hurt, but it was temporary, they gave me something to help me sleep and it stopped the contractions.

Re: Anyone had MAG-Magnesium Sulfate

I was a "mag patient".
To make a VERY long story short:
I was vomiting a few days prior to due date. Went to the hospital in fear of dehydration (couldn't keep anything down in over 24 hours). While getting rehydrated, tests were taken to determine my levels. All tests came back way off the charts and it was realized that I had developed pre-eclampsis (within 24 hours of going to my doctor this happened Chat Icon ). I was imediately admitted to begin inducing. My pressure was so high, the doctors were afraid I would have seizures. I was then give the mag treatment. I was on dedicated watch during the treatment until I delivered. I had a dedicated nurse with me the entire time.
Yes, the side effects are not fun. Vomiting especiall was the worst. Especially since that was why I was there in the first place!

Re: Anyone had MAG-Magnesium Sulfate

Wow sorry to hear everyone had a bad experience with it. I developed pre-clampsia and was put on it when my BP spiked pretty high to prevent seizures. It felt like I was drunk. I was on for 24 full hours and I really felt drunk, a little funky. But other then that no really bad side effects.

I was on MAG after giving birth because I developed Toxemia. It felt like I was extremely drunk and I remember very little of the day and 1/2 after Kevin was born. But it kept me from having a stroke from the toxemia so I can't complain too much.

Re: Anyone had MAG-Magnesium Sulfate

I had MAG when I was in labor. I almost fell asleep. It made me pretty relaxed and sleepy, but that's about it.
