Anyone get a wood burning insert
I'm curious how efficient it was an how much you saved on your heating bills...

Anyone get a wood burning insert
We have a wood burning stove, not an insert.
It cost us about $2500 if I remember correctly, and that was the stove, stone underneath, pipe, installation, everything. We spend about $400 a season on wood, and that's it. We haven't turned our boiler on in 3 years; we only heat with wood.
We used Sleepy Hollow in Deer Park for the install and LOVED them. I know a few people who have used them and everyone raves.
If you have any other questions feel free to fm me!

Re: Anyone get a wood burning insert
We have a wood burning stove. It was here when we moved in.
I can't say how much $$ it has saved us because well - it was here when we got the house! lol
But I can say that when we use it, it's usually at night, starting at about 7 or 8 and it slow burns throughout the night. The heat does not go on until the morning. So from 7 or 8 until 8am the next morning the heat doesn't go on because the house is toasty. It literally heats the entire house.
It's fantastic. And It's a Cozy kinda heat too

Re: Anyone get a wood burning insert
we just installed a wood burning stove and we can't use to it.
I think in total we spent about $3800 for both stove and granite base.
the price of fuel is outrageous. so in the long run, I think it's going to be a great investment.

Re: Anyone get a wood burning insert
We have a pellet burning insert You may want to look into that. It produces so much heat that we don't use ANY oil in the winter- other than for hot water. We get one delivery in fall and not again until summer The pellets are small and easy to store- and there is NO smell of burning wood- which gives me massive headaches
Best investment we have EVER made

We have one with a blower and heats are 1900 square foot house great. We pay about $110 in our gas bill. If you ask my husband he now wants to trade in for a pellet insert because it takes work to keep the fire going ( a lot of logs). Also, we have wood stacked everywhere in our backyard.
