Anyone familiar with Oceanside?

We saw a few houses today(we went to only open houses) we liked the neighborhood but is there one part thats nicer than others? And are the schools good? I realize now that Oceanside is a big town. I'm just looking for some insight! TIAChat Icon

Re: Anyone familiar with Oceanside?

I live next to Oceanside. I don't think there are really any "bad" areas of Oceanside but there are ares where home prices are much more affordable than other sections..(I do real estate closings part time so I see home values on many local Nassau properties). I only noticed that homes near the Oceanside LIRR station (Lawson Blvd) tend to be lower than in sections bordering the Middle Bay Country Club (Waukena Ave) or north Oceanside around Atlantic Ave/East Atlantic Ave...Those houses tend to be much smaller and in more congested street traffic.

Re: Anyone familiar with Oceanside?

I grew up in Oceanside and live there now, we're actually leaving bc I needed a change but it's a great town. We're in the OceanLea section which is predomanantly Split level homes. They start from W. Henrietta and move south towards harris rd. It's a great area and we're in the school 8 (elementary school) area. There is also the school 9 area, which is Madison and Treasure Island, this is by the park and middle school and the houses there are a bit newer and larger and gorgeous area as well..It mainly has splanches, colonials, and high ranches.
There is also the estates which is by the country club closer to Baldwin that a lot of ppl like and I do believe it belongs to school 9 as well. I know growing up and now ppl tend to like to be in a school 8 or school 9 area, but again, there aren't that bad areas of Oceanside. Ocean Harbor and terrace tend to have less expensive houses, I always get the two confused but one is across from the train tracks across Lawson blvd....It's a great town and a lot of younger couples and families are moving in!!!

We looked at a house on Harris dr! It was really nice and a nice quiet block. It's definitely in the running. I really like the school #2 area by Terrell ave so far nothing has popped up the we love. So the search oes on!! Oh by the way I looovee the splanches by the middle school but we could never afford them!

I grew up in the oceanlea area... school #8. My mom still lives there and my dad lives by the middle school on the water. I love both those areas.
