Anyone ever upgrade their phone through nextel before?

I completed the order on Friday. It was all set and fine. Saturday I get a call to my cell from a # that did not come up. It was some lady, who barely spoke English, saying she was from the company and wanted to confirm my order. She asked me for the account # first, which I did not have and thought was wierd for them to call ME to confirm the account #. Then she was asking about my SS#, DOB, etc. Now call me paranoid, but I do not give that info to someone who calls ME. So after she gave me a huge attitude, we compromised about what info I would give to confirm the order. She tells me the order is confirmed. I go online to check the status of the order today and it was CANCELLED!

I asked DH if he ever got this call when he upgraded and he said "no". Now I am confused and VERY annoyed since I need the phone for work

Is this something they do? I am a little thrown off that they would ask for my account # and SS# over the phone.
