Anyone ever have this-- BF babies
sasha has been eating very weird lately... Well, aside from the fact that she seems hungrier at night, since she is waking up 3 times, instead of just once. She has been having some feeding sessions where she goes on and off-- like, will eat for like 20 seconds, then go off. This will continue for about 10 mins til I give up. Basically-- I don't think she is getting much.
Like this morning, I fed her at 5AM, she went back to sleep. Woke up at 6 15 all smiles and not hungry yet-- which I didn;t think she would be. At 7 30ish I tried to feed her-- she seemed hungry and I of course thought she HAD to be hungry by then-- and she pulled this on and off crap.
Now at 9 15-- tried to feed her again, since I think she barely ate at 7 30-- and again, doesn't seem interested in eating-- despite showing some hunger cues.
I guess I could just wait til she is screaming for it-- but, I don't get it.

My sons started this when they started teething...she could be starting to teeth or just be realizing what is going on around her. If i'm nursing and there is a tv on or someone in the room my boys constantly pull off to see what is going on.

Randi the SAME EXACT thing is happening with DS. He is waking up 2 or 3 times a night to feed. I even gave him a bottole of formula last night at 4 am thinking he would sleep more....NOPE! I tried to nurse him this morning and he nursed for 1 minute and then pulled off, and he would do this over and over until I had enough of his antics. I know he's teethign pretty badly. He's very cranky shoving fist and anything else he can in his mouth. His clothes get soaked after an hour or so. So I'm thiking it's probably that. The other thing I would think is to let a good 3 or 4 hours go by and have them be really hungry so that they can get a full feed. I hope this phase passes quickly!

DS does this sometimes, which is frustrating when we need to get ready and out the door during the week. It could be teething or maybe she's just not that hungry. It could also be b/c she's becoming more aware of her surroundings and gets distracted easily.

how old is she now?
i waited til 6 month to introduce solids and it's helped a lot. we have similar patterns in our house, and i think it's a combo of teething (DD's 1st tooth is coming in) and not being satisfied with BM only.

DD does this a lot. It's so frustrating!! She did it a few weeks ago for about two weeks and then totally stopped. For the past few days she has been eating for longer 5-7 min. on each side and she is much calmer. Maybe it's just a phase... Im sure she's getting enough. Like some OP's said, she might be starting to teeth or just more aware of her surroundings and distracted. If she was hungry, Im sure she'd let you know!

This happened to me too----he started pulling off all the time to see what was going on, I found the best way to BF him was in his room, quiet with the lights dim, otherwise he couldn't concentrate!
