Anyone ever have 2nd B-Day party guilt?
We had a huge party for my DS on his 1st B-Day, over 80 people at our house.
For his second, we are going to see Fresh Beat the weekend before his b-day and Montauk the week after, so for his actual b-day I was thinking do something small with close family only, maybe go out to dinner and call it a day. On the other hand, part of me is thinking have something at the house, invite family and close friends, but once I start thinking of the friends list, again it turns out to 30 people to not offend anyone.
Did you do something low key after the 1st or you kept up basically with the going all out?
He is also starting nursery school in Sept and I figure that once he starts meeting other kids, maybe next year I will do something with kids in his class, parents, etc. and go back to the crowd.
I just have people asking me "Hey when are you sending invites out for his b-day" and I have a blank stare.

Anyone ever have 2nd B-Day party guilt?
Well, for our twins 1st we had about 75 people and rented out a VFW type hall. This year for their second, i was going to have close family over for Pizza and cake and then do something with all of their friends. They've got quite a few friends from being in the NICU and friends of our that have kids within the same age range. But, i am 2 weeks away from having another baby boy and his Christening will be the end of October. The twins birthday is December 2nd so i'm not sure we'll really be able to do anything with their friends for their second birthday which i have HUGE guilt over. I feel like they need to have a party with their friends. So, i am still not sure what's going to happen :/

Re: Anyone ever have 2nd B-Day party guilt?
I totally had 2nd birthday party guilt for my DS... especially because I did big parties for DD's 1st, 2nd & 3rd, and for his 2nd, it was just a crazy time of year, and we couldn't get it together in time. We just had grandparents over... but the guilt eventually got to me and for DD's 4th birthday party, we decided to do a joint celebration, that way I can get photos with him with a cake and people around and years from now, he will see pictures and can never hold it against me for having a party for DD and not for him! lol

I don't think you should feel guilty at all. After all, you are going to see FBB and then going away. Your DS will not care if there is a party. Keep it simple with family. There will be plenty of opportunities for big parties with friends. If anyone asks just say you are having some family over this year since you have a lot of other things going on aroun that time. After DD 'S first birthday we have kept it simple. I figure once she has some steady friends from school then we can do something more fun. DH's cousins have three kids each between the ages of 4 and 12. Other than the first birthday, it has been family only and at the house. Nobody has complained yet. Lol
What preschool are you sending him to?

Thanks
I keep telling myself the same, but I do have close friends of mine that want to be part of it and I 100% love that we have friends like this, but it does get to be too much and it adds up fast. I mean IMO, these first few years are about us anyway isnt it
I will send you an FM

Re: Anyone ever have 2nd B-Day party guilt?
This is what we did... We do the big 1st bday at a restaurant/hall with over 100 guests. After that we do dinner at the house for the immediate family on the actual day. We just do take out and have cake. then I have a party for just kids.

Re: Anyone ever have 2nd B-Day party guilt?
ds went to a kiddy party from a kid at daycare..... he was one of 2 kids from school there(out of 10 invited) luckily the girl had alot of kiddy family members around her age......
We haven't done a kiddy party yet, I'm figuring when he's in Kindergarten probably...
We did have a family party though at the house, casually cooked... I have also considered pizza pies for a party too - BIL use to have that growing up and loved it.
