Anyone ever do their own sididng?
Was it difficult? My DH thinks he's the magician of the world. I keep telling him to just have it done, but he flat out refused. So please tell me how it was for you?

Re: Anyone ever do their own sididng?
I've done some siding on my brother in law's house and our shed.
is it super difficult, no. Is it super easy and quick? no.
it really depends on how much has to done and how handy he is.
basically installing the starter strip level and the corner's plum is the most important, followed by making sure that you give the siding room to expand and contract, and that you don't drive the nails to far in so the panel can move.
If he and 1-2 friends were willing to spend a week doing it, for a small house, then it might be fine to do.
On the other hand, if you have a decent size house, haven't done a bunch of this sort of work, and don't have the time and friends iwth time to dedicate to it, pay someone.
there are plenty of bad siding jobs out there, where you see bowed siding, siding not level, wavy siding etc.

Thanks for this! He is extremely handy, and would take the time off work (2 weeks) to do it on his own because he doesn't trust others to do it to his level of "perfection" I have faith that he can do it, but it's going to take FOREVER! He won't be doing it until the summer! But I will let him know this info so he can keep that in mind when it comes time to do the siding!
