Anyone else out there have a reallllly small nursery?

We converted our large-ish 1 bedroom apartment into a 2. Making our nursery a whopping 8x10. Needless to say we can only really fit a crib and dresser in there.

But id love to hear space saving ideas!

Things I wish would fit but probably won't:
Bookshelf
Glider

What are your tips?!

Skip the glider if you have a comfy couch. I didn't get a glider (i didnt want one) and I never really felt I missed out. Get a bookshelf thay mounts on the wall in cool designs. Ikea (i believe) has a bunch. It will give visual interest to the room without taking up floor space. Pay attention to crib size when ordering. They have cribs where a lot of decorative moldings take up a lot of width. Honestly, the room size is really not that small. Find wall art, and accessories you love. You can still have your dream nursery!

I think our nursery is about 9X10, so about the same size as yours. Ours doesn't have a closet either which really makes setting up the room a challenge. We were able to fit a crib on one wall, a decent sized dresser on another wall, and a book shelf on a third wall, with a glider next to it. We only have one wall with a window. We forgot to factor in that a glider has to be a certain amount of distance away from the wall to prevent the back from hitting into the wall as it rocks, so our glider is pretty much jutting out in the middle of the room. So it's cramped in there, but cozy. If we're still living here when our LO outgrows her crib/toddler bed, we'll have to get one of those beds that is lofted above dresser drawers, or something like that. And if we end up having another child then I really don't know what we're going to do! They'll have to sleep strapped to the ceiling, or something! Chat Icon

Our nursery is really small too and it has pitched ceilingsChat Icon

I may only be able to fit the crib and a short dresser that will have to have the changing pad on top.

We haven't moved in yet so I haven't been able to actually measure it. The move-in date keeps getting pushed back. Hopefully we'll get in there by August.

We turned a desk nook area into the nursery. It fits the crib. and that is it. but because it has a built in wall unit of some shelving, we were able to put a changing pad on the table and call that a changing table. we have a hamper and a diaper pail under the shelf. I got some baskets for the other items. DD's clothes are in my closet. I put a bookcase with her books in the living room. It really is just a crib.

i as well have a small nursery area. weaddeda teh baby to our room, adn was only really a nook area. im figuring an8x10area. i got a crib without molding, and a short dresser, where the changing piece will be on top of it.. i jammed a glider into a corner, and with minimal rocking im ok. i really wanted the glider cause i heard wonderful things with breastfeeding with it.. i was planning to get some corner shelves so that we can put items there for the baby. Baby is sharing our closet.. im figuring we will get to know each other quite intimately! LOL..

We have a small nursery too! We have a crib, dresser for changing table and glider. We decided to do wall mounted shelves for the books and other little items. It worked just fine for my DS and will too for this baby. We also did our own organization in the closet.

Our nursery is 8x9. We are able to fit the crib, dresser (which will double as changing table) tall skinny bookcase from Ikea and a rocking chair. DH's grandfather bought us a glider, but stupid me not thinking, didnt realize it will not fit in this room..We'll be using it in our computer room/soon to be play room.
We do have a closet...and we installed the rubbermaid closet system so that practically every inch of space could be used.

We too have a small nursery with not a lot of usable wall space, and it is also DH's "office" so we have his slim desk, a crib, dresser & small bookshelf. I am amazed it all fits. We are borrowing a glider and I don't know where it's going to go really. Maybe in the corner "kitty corner" so it has room to glide. We did not get large furniture.

I was thinking of getting one of those toy nets that hang in the corner of the room for stuffed animals etc that are gifts and he won't be using right away.

Thanks ladies!

I'm on the hunt for mountable wall shelves, and I love the idea of a toy net!

Our "nursery" area for 2 was a nook in our bedroom. The total area was maybe 7x10. We had two cribs on opposite walls and the dresser/changing table in between them.

We had extra drawers and hanging space put into our closet so alot of the stuff was out of sight!

Our nursery is 7x10. It is really narrow so it made thing difficult. I only have a crib, dresser and glider in there. The top of the dresser is a changing pad. I took the doors off the closet and have curtains on there and most times they are open. It has worked out fine so far.

This exactly. We put a changing pad on the dresser so we didn't need a changing table, redid the closet so we had better storage, and used wall space for shelves. I have a glider in there too. I wouldn't put a teenager in there, but for a baby it's perfect.
