Anyone else have white coat syndrome?
I know I am crazy, but I get so nervous to go to the doctor! My heart goes up to like 180 beats! I have to go in a little while and I am freaking out. Any advice on how to get over this? Thanks!

Is there a doctor you are really comfortable with? How about a xanax before your next appt?
I get that too but not as high. I had that happen a few weeks ago when I went to a new doc. My pressure which is normally 120/80 was 145/80. They knew it and said that if the top number goes up but the bottom number stays the same it's white coat syndrome.

For me - the fear is not of doctors, it's of needles. My palms get sweaty and my heart beats faster and I tense up before I know I am getting one. They give flu shots at work and this happens to me every year beforehand even though I know full well it doesn't hurt that much!

ME!! I have MAJOR anxiety to the point that it is deblilitating. I know I have spoken to some other ladies on here who share this fear too.
No advice- because I still haven't figured it out myself- but lots of hugs! And if you do figure out a soluton- let me know!

I was serious about the xanax. Take half of one an hr before your visit. Ask your doc to prescribe.

only when go to the dentist, I need to take a tranquilizer first I threw up on a dentist like 10 years ago because I was so freaked out.

I also have it....I was in the hospital last April and that is when I found out there really was a name for it. At that time it was put in my records that I have White Coat Hypertension.
