anyone else get the post-holiday blues...

I find this time of year so depressing... taking down all the Christmas decorations, the cold weather, and so on.

To make matters worse, my company doesn't have another holiday until Memorial Day Chat Icon Chat Icon

At this time of year I always feel like there's nothing to look forward to, KWIM?

If you get this way too, what do you do to cheer yourself up?

Ugg, I totally get this!!! There's so much build up to the holidays and excitement, etc., and what are you left with afterwards? Not much! It gets dark early, it's cold out, etc.
What I try to do is plan something this time of year to look forward to. Even if it's just a small dinner party with my friends. Every few weeks this time of year, we'll do something like that or go away for a weekend, etc. and it really helpsChat Icon

just remember that each day is going to get a bit longer now!

can you plan a mini vacation?

think about beach weather and start a new exercise routine (exercise always makes me feel better)

Yes this time of year is horrible.
But yes, each day gets one minute longer and by February you shoudl be able to see some light in the sky at 5 pm- I always look forward to that!
Just start looking towards summer!

I used to get terrible anxiety on Christmas and I would get SO upset that the day was over.

However, now, DH & I host a New Year's Eve party every year...so that gives us something to look forward to immediately after. We also are going to host a Superbowl party, and I'm planning on throwing some other parties/nights out with friends into the mix too. Just keep yourself busy and you'll be back into a routine without the blues in no time. Chat Icon

Nah-I mean I miss that the excitement of the holiday season is over. No more looking forward to seeing the kids faces on Christmas morning.

But, I want to get my house back to normal. I want to organize the toys. I just want to get back to the calmness.

Yes. I always hate this time of the year. Chat Icon

I hate winter and January- March are my least favorite months. These next few months always drag and are too cold. I also feel like I have nothing to look forward to. It seems like we have months of cold left with nothing to celebrate. It stinks.

I'm trying not to get too upset yet because we still have new years. I love NYE!!!!!

I think the holidays in general can be depressing. It's a very stressful time.

I kinda look forward to getting back into my routine. I also look forward to having regular weeks "of time" to do things like go to yoga at night.

I feel guilty about doing this if we have family down!

I also know it stresses DH a lot if we have to run to a million different "events".

Re: anyone else get the post-holiday blues...

totally...actually usually starts a few days BEFORE Christmas as I know its all coming to an end...and months of being stuck inside with 3 kids is making me cringe inside.

I try to plan a vacation around this time....
