Anyone else asked to come back 6 wks later after Level II for growth check?

The dr. that did my sono told me he wanted me to come back at 6 weeks (I'll be 26 wks) after he did my level II sono for a growth check. I told someone else who's PG at 6 mts, and she said she never had to do that....

so I'm wondering - is that normal? Is there something he's looking for that I don't know about?

He said the weight and size of the baby is normal for where I'm at....

I haven't had any sono's since my 20 week. Every doctor is different though. It just may be part of his regular check up. If he said everything was normal at your level II I wouldn't worry

I wouldnt have worried, but when I mentioed it to my coworker as if it were a regular thing, and she was like huh?

i had to do that. i had my level 2 and then around 27 weeks i went for a growth sono. everything was fine. some docs do it earlier, and some do it around 30 weeks.

I wouldn't worry too much!
I think every doctor is different...mine had me coming in every two weeks during the first three months, which I'm pretty sure is uncommon.

I had to go back at 27 weeks

yes---I went for my level 2 last week.
My next appt is 3-4 weeks--form says f.u to level 2 sonogram---standard in some offices--mines high risk and standard.

All drs. have a different idea of what is "standard." You do reserve the right to challenge and say no[chances are good if you do they'll admit they're being "cautious"]. You have insurance and likely he's trying to get as much as he can out of it b/c in reality, insurance companies pay a little less than what drs. actually ask for and they don't get to make you make up the difference so if he makes a note in your file that growth could be off or needs to be monitored, then he can within reason request the additional screening/test so to speak. Trust me, the most important thing at your visits at this point are: heartrate, fundal height and your vitals. I didn't have a single sonogram with my first...and she came out PERFECT and I was slow to "grow" like you.
