Just tried to make a reservation and was told there is a 50 dollar charge for one way. I asked since when, because we've done one way before and were never surcharged. The moron on the phone tells me its always been that way. I disagreed and told her to cancel the reservation, she then hung up on me
Wondering if anyone else had this surcharge

This isn't too recent but February 2010 we had a flight canceled in Chicago and we rented a car and drove home to NY. We definitely paid fees for one way but I thought they were more.

They charge $100 just for dropping off the car to a different location! I wouldn't be surprised that they have a surcharge for a one-way trip.

they told us it was a $200 drop off fee, but only charged us $100. we rented a car a few weeks ago.

ooh yeah! they definitely charge fees for one way rentals. AND sometimes it goes up or down depending on which direction. 2 years ago, we had a wedding to go to in san diego. so, we decided to make that our vacation for the summer. a week before the wedding, we flew into san francisso. we rented a car, and spent the week drivng down the CA coast, and ended up in san diego for the wedding. then we flew home from san diego. we paid a one way rental fee of like $300 or something. AND it would have been a lot cheaper if we drove the opposite way (from San diego to san francisco). but, the wedding was at the end of august, and i work at a school so i had to get back for work.

We did a CA coast trip two years ago and wanted to use points for the rental... because it was a one way we almost had to use double the amount of points we would have had it been a round trip. Giant PITA.
