Anybody with a Bluestone patio?
After some discussions with another landscape designer/architect, we're now considering Bluestone, like shown above, for our back patio & front walk way.
I'm just curious to how hot it gets...is it too hot to walk on barefoot?
I see it used a lot, but I heard it can get really hot (one of the reasons why I wanted Sandstone was because it doesn't retain a lot of heat.)

Re: Anybody with a Bluestone patio?
My parents have a bluestone patio and I love it. In fact DH and I were just talking about how we will be putting one in, in the near future.
Growing up, I never noticed it getting to hot to walk on. Not like blacktop anyway. I do have leather feet in the summers though and can walk on just about anything! I never heard my mother or anyone for that matter complaining about how hot it got.

That right there is exactly what I want. Those colors look very vibrant, how much do they fade over time?
I don't really know much about it, except that it's beautiful.

Re: Anybody with a Bluestone patio?
i dont know anything about the stone and how it retains heat, but must say it is beautiful! We are getting ready to redo our backyard as well, an I think this is the nicest stone Ive seen-really good choice! (ps-if it were me & I like it enough, I probably wouldnt care if it retained heat!lol) btw- would you be able to recommend your landscape designer? thanks

Our front porch and walkway are bluestone. I havent noticed it getting too hot. I love it. You do have to be a little careful with it because it sort of chips away.

Re: Anybody with a Bluestone patio?
FWIW, we met with another landscape designer today and when we mentioned we wanted NY Bluestone, the first thing she asked was if we were barefoot often on the patio and if we had children that run around w/o shoes.

Does your Bluestone receive direct sunlight or is it shaded by trees?
We have direct sunlight on our porch from 8am until 7pm during the summer months (now that we removed 15+ trees).
We're still considering the Bluestone despite what I've heard about it retaining heat. We're rarely barefoot and if we are, it's early morning or late night.
