Any truth to this?
I rec'd an email stating:
The following companies just filed for Bankruptcy:
> Hollywood Video
> Levitz
> Sharper Image
> Performance Team Freight
> Linens n Things
> Circuit City
> Bed, Bath and Beyond
> If you have gift cards from the above list use them ASAP, they will not
be valid for much longer.
-I know about Levitz and let me tell you..HSBC-SCAMMERS! I had an issue with a .99 balance and they try to charge me $300!

Sorta, but not completely,
Bed Bath & Beyond did not file for bancruptcy.
Details:
Snopes
In short-
> Hollywood Video-filed, closing some stores, no mention of gift cards
> Levitz-pretty much out of business

I had a gift card to Linens and Things, and though I received an email from them saying that just because they filled for Chapter 11 does not mean they are going out of business, i went to spend the card last weekend. the store was MUCH less well-stocked than before (this was not a store that was closing), and inventory looked minimal.
I was glad I spent my gc when I did.

no one is shipping goods to them- they have no credit
so the chances of them getting new stuff in SLIM

I heard all but BBB. I don't believe this means all of these stores or locations will close though. Many companies just down size but remain in business, but some do close. As for sharper Image, I heard prior to their bankruptcy they were closing more then half of their stores nationwide, due to the economy, seeing that people only buy their gadgets when they have extra to spend, but this wont be the trend for a while.
that stinks though if the GC are not good anymore
