any tips for spit up?
My LO is 3 weeks old and things seem to be going well. I am struggling with the spitting up though. I always have a burp cloth but its never where I need it. There is spit up everywhere in my house. Is this just what I should have expected? Also - at what point do you change LO's clothes because of spit up. Also any tips to prevent it? I think that's it. TIA

Some of the things we tried were: sitting her more upright while she fed, burping her mid bottle then feeding her the rest, giving her less formula more often, changing from powder formula to RTF.
With that said - none of them really worked. DD was a happy spitter - no reflux, no allergy. Doc said she'd grow out of it. And at 6 1/2 months it just stopped...happiest day of my life.
So, my advice would be to just wait it out. It gets better. Oh, and I'd never really change her too often (unless it was really bad) because i ALWAYS had a bib on her. She's got a whole drawer full of bibs.

my DD is the same way though its gotten better with zantac. She tends to spit up pretty soon after a feeding if she is going to do it so I have her sitting in my lap with burp cloth very close and I almost always catch it. She seems to do almost like a breath holding thing before she spits up so I know its coming. Or, if she coughs a few times after a feeding, she usually spits up and ounce or two so I know thats coming (by the cough) and I just have the burp cloth ready.
I change her clothes anytime there is spit up on her. I just can't stand the smell and then it rubs off on me. Keep a bib on her so you can just change the bib!
Keep your LO upright for as long as possible after a feeding. Burp every 2oz. Burp until you get a burp when possible. Sometimes i burp for 5-10 mins.

Hailey has only recently started to spit up... and i think its because she takes too much of the bottle now... we used to burp her half way through, but she freaks out if we do that now.

This happened to us with midbottle burps. Yeah she cries but overall she's more comfortable if we get the gas out. She did great with RTF because it's thicker. When we went to powder the doc suggested gas drops in every bottle and gentle formula. Now she's spitting up again because she's doing fairly well with solids and it's stinkier now. I guess the saying is true "spit happens"
