Re: Any thoughts on Hicksville?
At the risk of getting flamed because these questions usually result in such...
Hicksville High School has been changing for about 15 years now. IMO, the school hasn't done much to ease the population transition or to create a positive atmosphere amongst the diverse population. I've met a lot of other teachers who are in the high school. There are problems. There is also a sizable transient population. Many of the better students from the elementary schools go on to Holy Trinity or another Catholic school.
I've also noticed that many areas of the town have changed as well. I stopped going to Hickville train station because of a few incidents where I felt very uncomfortable

Re: Any thoughts on Hicksville?
I agree with EVERYTHING Theresa said. I grew up in Hicksville (in the Levitt section on the Levittown border)and my parents still live there. Myself and my brother both went to public elementary and Middle School but chose (on our own) to attend Catholic schools since we knew ourselves that the HHS was not great and we would not be getting the best education or sports teams- which were important to us.
The town is completely changed. It's a shame.

But they have some GREAT Indian restuarants!!
Isn't there more than one HS? It seems like such a large area, I was thinking about this the other day.

Re: Any thoughts on Hicksville?
I work for Kaplan and we teach SAT classes at Hicksville HS. We never have any behaviorial problems there and the kids seem really nice. It is a really big school though, so that may be something you want to consider.
We also lived in an apartment in Hicksville for a year and loved the area and our neighbors.

Re: Any thoughts on Hicksville?
Hi I currently live in Hicksville have for 7 years and i have a daughter in 2nd grade. The elementary schools are great and ourl we have met great friends, but unfortunately we are moving before my son starts kindergarten this September . The middle school is good but the high school has problems and last year at one PTA meeting we had a speaker about gang violence in the high school and they also have a problem with people taking the train from other areas to Hicksville and using a Hicksville address and going to school here. The area has changed a lot.
